Play sitar and didgeridoo online

This is pretty cool. The "Indian Shankar Drum Ganesh Machine" has a lot of sound effects: each button triggers a different sound (sitar, didgeridoo, voices, drums etc).
To give it a try click the image above (opens in new window).
And since we are talking about those instruments, take a look at these two videos: the first one shows Ravi and Anoushka Shankar playing sitars, and the second one brings Peter 'Chainsaw' Atjpurrki in a didgeridoo solo.
Both exotic, both amazing.

Solar System Visualizer

This is really interesting: the Solar System Visualizer shows the orbits of several planet's satellites (planets from our Solar System and some from extrasolar systems).
The Solar System Visualizer could be reached through this LINK.
It's simple, easy, objective and fun...
The Solar System Visualizer was created by Michael VanDaniker and Andrew Lund as a part of an independent study under Douglas Hamilton at the University of Maryland.
If you like this kind of thing you might be interested to see THIS too.

Online image editor: Pixenate

Need a good online image editor? Try Pixenate.
It's good, easy to use and it's free.
It's simpler than Pixlr (which is quite robust), but it is also good, specially for less complex tasks.
There is even a specific tool for teeth whitening (depending on the person you are going to shoot this could be very useful...).
Pixenate website is HERE.

Convert images to HTML, ASCII or Matrix style
This isn't exactly useful but by any chance do you fancy converting pictures to HTML, ASCII or Matrix-style patterns?
If you answered "yes, I always dreamed about it" - today is your lucky day. The website "tex-image.com" (LINK) does exactly that.
The images above (clockwise) are: original Apple logo; HTML version; ASCII version; Matrix-styled version (click on each one to enlarge).

Fun with pictures

Pizap is an online editor you can use to make funny photo modifications. The system has a simple drag and drop interface - and you can also insert text in the pictures.
After uploading and giving your "personal touch" to any picture you could save and use it the way you want.
The picture above was made using a demo photo from the website (LINK).

Photoscape: photo editor (free)

What is better than a good software? A good and free software, right? The Photoscape photo editing software is nice and easy to use, and it's free.
Maybe you already know PIXLR, which is really good (I use it all the time), but it's an online photo editor - so if you are willing to use a photo editor without connecting to the internet, it's useless.
But Photoscape isn't online - you have to download the software. So you can use it whenever you want it, which could be practical in some cases...
The product page is HERE. Direct download: LINK.

Can You Run It?

'Can You Run It?' is a service that verifies if your computer is able to run any given game that you want to play, install or buy.
It doesn't gather any kind of personal information, but to be able to analyze your system you have to download and allow the installation of a ActiveX component (you can delete ir after any test, easily).
It worked for me. To test your system click the image above.

Minefield - the future is fast

If you are using Firefox 3 you should take a look at the new Minefield browser (from the creators of Firefox, Mozilla Labs).
Why? Because then you will see what really means fast browsing...
Minefield is at least 10% faster than Chrome. In fact it's javascript engine is considered the fastest in the world.
The available version is an alpha (but it's stable: I tried it). That's why some Firefox extensions are not supported yet - but definitively worth a try just to know that you are riding the fastest browser that ever existed.
Minefield installation is separated from you Firefox - so there's no risk. If you don't like it, just erase it.
It's really cool - I recommend. Want to try? Download it HERE (windows, mac and linux versions).
And if you are still using Internet Explorer, here's another tip: change your browser (try Firefox, or Chrome, or Opera or even Safari). You won't regret.

Google Earth for iPhone

A version of Google Earth for iPhone has just been released. Since it has multi-touch capabilities, it's easier and funnier than the original.
The better part? The observation perspective is controlled by the accelerometers - and then you can tilt the image just moving the screen...
See below the new version at work. Then grab it with iTunes.
