To the "I want" list: water powered jet pack

A new design for jet packs uses a system of conduits to push water from an engine below the surface of a lake through thrust nozzles on the pack.

The inventor's name is Raymond Li, and the jet pack is already patented (U.S. Patent 7,258,301).

Racing Limo

This one is for those Indy/F1 lovers who have always dreamed about riding one of those beautiful machines ... but that never had a family rich enough to pay for it: a limousine which is a racing car (or a racing car that is a limousine?).

The Canadian guys at GP Limos designed this vehicle for a pilot + 6 passengers. Their goal: to reach 250mph (400km/h)...

Multiple Kill Vehicle

Lockheed Martin Corporation announced last week that its team successfully conducted a free-flight hover test of the Multiple Kill Vehicle-L.

Conducted Dec. 2 at the National Hover Test Facility at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., the test met all objectives. The full-scale prototype flew at an altitude of approximately 23 feet (7 meters) for 20 seconds, maneuvering while simultaneously tracking a target.

See the video for this hover test after the jump.

"This test demonstrated the integrated operation of the MKV-L in near-earth flight," said Rick Reginato, Multiple Kill Vehicle program director, Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company. "This represents a major step forward for the earliest operational payload designed to destroy multiple threat objects with a single missile defense interceptor."

Anti-abduction helmet

Have been kidnapped by aliens these days? Little green men (or gray men, if you like) have harassed you lately?

Maybe it's time to start using a anti-telepathy helmet, to avoid extra-terrestrial mind control over you...

Weird? Sure... But even weirder is the fact that there is a website teaching its readers to make such helmets.

The website in question is called "Stop Alien Abductions".

According to their informations the ETs have to control the mind of the person they are willing to kidnap - and if this telepathy is avoided the abduction doesn't occurs.

All you need is a hat and a piece of electricity-conductive plastic, plus basic stuff like scissors and tape.

Ah, there is an important detail for those who eventually need a helmet like this: it doesn't work on "hybrids" (human + alien breed)...

PMS Ring

If your girlfriend/wife/sister shows up using a ring like this - specially during PMS days - you better shut up and quietly leave the room.

Why?

Because this ring is also a gun.

The "Femme Fatale" uses .6mm caliber bullets (seven bullets!).

Luckly this ring was made in 1870, and it appears that you can't find it anymore (at least easily).

Aerocar at eBay

This flying car isn't exactly modern... It was made in 1956! But it works and flies like a small airplane when the wings are connected (see the fantastic video at the end of this post).

This one is being auctioned at eBay (only $3.500.000): LINK.

Put a robot underneath you

magine a bicycle seat connected by mechanical frames to a pair of shoes for an idea of how the new wearable assisted-walking gadget from Honda works.

The experimental device, unveiled Friday, is designed to support bodyweight, reduce stress on the knees and help people get up steps and stay in crouching positions.

Honda envisions the device being used by workers at auto or other factories. It showed a video of Honda employees wearing the device and bending to peer underneath vehicles on an assembly line.

Engineer Jun Ashihara also said the machine is useful for people standing in long lines and for people who run around to make deliveries.

To wear it, you put the seat between your legs, put on the shoes and push the on button. Then just start walking around.

The system has a computer, motor, gears, battery and sensors embedded in it so it responds to a person's movements, according to Honda Motor Co.

Private F-35 (and it drops confetti)

This scaled down replica of the Joint Strike Fighter was constructed by dutch artist Arthur van Poppel, and it is amazingly full of details... It just doesn't have jet engines nor drops bombs - just releases smoke and confetti.

The fighter is conducted like a car, and it's intended to appear in fairies and parties. Click to see the video.
