The end of fairy tales

A Canadian campaign to encourage the donation of books was developed under the idea that the imaginary worlds of children are bound to disappear without reading. To convey this idea to the general public, the different advertisements show fairy tale characters, such as Cinderella and Peter Pan, slowly fading away in hospital.

Images: Peter Pan ("in his usual garb, an elderly Peter Pan sits in his wheelchair in front of an open hospital window. The wind blows the curtains into the room. Life and time have left their mark on him. Looking up at a shooting star in the sky, he appears sad not to be able to fly away.)" and Cinderella ("Cinderella wanders the corridors of a hospital with her IV drip. She’s wearing her ball dress, and has only one shoe on. Visibly worn down by illness, she is pale and weak. She has to lean on her IV stand to move forward.")

Click to enlarge, to fully appreciate the details.

After the jump, a video made for this campaign (see what happens to Little Red Riding Hood...)

Passing time

A message which is posted every 12 hours thanks to more than 500 clocks. It is about the project of Nadine Grenier, coed in Esad: an elegant work around the time which passes, at the time of Biennial international Design in Saint-Etienne.

The message is "Le temps passe, e chaque fois qu'il y a du temps qui passe, il y a quelque chose qui s'efface" - or something like "The time passes, and each time the time passes, there's something that vanishes."

Nice idea to talk about the passage of time using clocks...

Design = rapper's business

Rapper and music producer Pharrell Williams is expanding his businesses...

Besides contributing to Louis Vuitton (bijoux design) he also created a collection of chairs, named "Perspective".

According to the designer, the chair represents "a hot couple enjoying each other in the street" - or something like that. Got it?

Anara Tower (Dubai): topped by a large glass capsule

The Anara Tower, which will be built in Dubai (starting in the end of the next year) will be 2150 feet high and will have an ultra luxurious restaurant at the top - which will be within a large glass capsule.

This glass capsule, sustained by a wind turbine-like structure, is the most impressive element of the project, which will have also around 300 wildly expensive apartments, a 250-rooms hotel and sumptuous gardens at every 27 floors.

Wow...

Pool table

Besides that fact that this table is beautiful and creatively done, I like the play on words here. Well, isn't really a pool table - but it's a table in the shape of a pool, right?

Constructed with 50mm acrylic and a miniature diving board, this concept was developed by UK's Freshwest and recently shown at London Design Week.
